I am a fully qualified hypnotherapist, backed by additional psychotherapeutic training and specialised training in delivering online therapy. Does online hypnotherapy really work?

Absolutely, online hypnotherapy is highly effective. 

Extensive research has confirmed that online therapy as just as impactful as in-person therapy. A recent study in the Journal of Medical Internet Research found that online therapy is “at least equivalent to fact-to-fact therapy in terms of therapeutic alliance, and that there is a relationship between therapeutic alliance and e-therapy outcome”. 

In this context, the therapeutic alliance refers to the critical connection between therapist and client, which is essential for successful therapy.


The benefits of online hypnotherapy

Online hypnotherapy offers numerous advantages, not limited to the convenience of doing it from the comfort of your own home, even in your pyjamas! 

On a serious note though, receiving hypnotherapy at home can help you enter a state of relaxation and hypnosis more swiftly than traditional in-person sessions. Additionally, many clients find that working online saves valuable time by eliminating the need to travel and allowing sessions to fit seamlessly into their busy schedule.

Is online hypnosis safe?

Online hypnosis is unquestionably safe. 

Concerns about getting stuck in a trance if a session is interrupted are unfounded. In reality, if an interruption occurs during a hypnotherapy session, you will gently and gradually return to your normal state, much like waking from a daydream. Furthermore, trance states similar to those used in hypnotherapy are a normal part of everyday life. For example, many peopel drive in a trance state without even realising it. But in the event of an emergency or a sudden need to stop, your mental state shifts back to full awareness. In short, getting “stuck” in a trance permanently is not possible.
